Advances in Aortic Root Surgery: A Report from the International Corcym Bentall Club Meeting
The Corcym Bentall Club, held on September 11, 2026, in Seoul, South Korea, brought together an international group of cardiac surgeons and specialists with a shared interest in contemporary aortic root and Bentall surgery. The meeting took place in the Astor Suite on the 36th floor in Seoul, providing an informal setting for scientific exchange and discussion.

The program opened with a welcome and introduction by Dr. Borut Gersak, establishing the objectives of the meeting and the importance of continued collaboration in aortic surgery. Dr. Seung Hyun Lee presented on advances in the Bentall procedure and approaches to optimizing outcomes with new aortic solutions. Dr. Chris Malaisrie followed with a presentation on the Bentall procedure in contemporary practice and its role in shaping the future of aortic surgery. Dr. Georges Matalanis presented his experience in Perceval Bentall procedure.
The presentations provided an opportunity to discuss how established Bentall principles can evolve alongside new surgical techniques and technologies. Particular emphasis was placed on the continuing need to optimize procedural outcomes while addressing the increasingly complex requirements of patients undergoing aortic root replacement. The meeting also highlighted the value of sharing practical experience among surgeons from different institutions and healthcare systems. A dedicated question-and-answer session involving Dr. Lee, Dr. Gersak, and Dr. Malaisrie encouraged open discussion and exchange of clinical perspectives. The format allowed participants to move beyond formal presentations and address practical considerations relevant to everyday Bentall surgery. The presence of an international group of participants underscored the global interest in advancing surgical treatment of aortic root disease. The Corcym Bentall Club also provided an opportunity to strengthen professional relationships and create a forum for future scientific collaboration. The combination of contemporary surgical perspectives and direct interaction made the meeting particularly relevant to ongoing developments in aortic root surgery.
The evening concluded with closing remarks and a thank-you note from Dr. Gersak, bringing the formal program to a close. Overall, the Seoul Bentall Club represented a focused forum for scientific dialogue, clinical experience, and continued collaboration around the evolution of the Bentall procedure.
